Eat Something Disgusting - Win 6 Chipotle Burritos

It's sort of an oxymoron er somethin', huh?

I found this "be the better man" video challenge through the Chipotle Fan Site.
http://bethebetterman.com/100248

Of course I should add the disclaimer "not for the easily queasy".
Five men so far have entered the contest by posting video of themselves eating disgusting things. The rest of us have the wonderful privelage of watching, and voting for who ate the most disgusting thing. Winner gets the burritos. My vote was for "Seth"...I felt sick to watch it, he put on a good show with old milk, "vodka broth", soy sauce, and one truely, truely disgusting ingredient that I will not reveal to you, but rather make you find out for yourself. Also, the old guys are worth watching, I think they ate maggot cheese and didn't even flinch...funny stuff.

Facebook has stolen my identity

Facebook.

That's what it's all about these days. No, my identity hasn't been misused or credit stolen (that I know of). But Facebook tricked my into giving away info on all my favorite books, sports teams, musicians, songs, movies, who my friends are, who's in my family, and what I'm talking about with whom. They've tricked me out of my time. They've disabled my creative thinking and have forced me to categorize myself in many ways. I'm now categorized as having a 124 word IQ in Scramble, the movie I am is "Say Anything", my "real age" is 22, my "mental age" is 47, I am Pam Beesly, and a Neophyte in The Office trivia.

It's a weird world that I avoided for so long, and now I've been sucked in. Consequently, my daughter is still in her pajamas, laundry is half done, and dinner hasn't been started yet.

I think all of these are valid "shoulds", some more important than others. Should I keep up with all my shoulds? I don't think any sane person would should that on me! Now, there are many more shoulds that I could include here (more financial duties, yard/garden duties, work duties, etc., etc.) but I'm not gonna should that on myself too!

SHOULD is a "Four Letter" Word

Goodbye Hymns, Hello Uprising

The Sunday morning schedule has been the same for years: a traditional service first, then a contemporary service. Recently, they have changed the first service ,the traditional one, to another contemporary one, thereby nixing the hymns. Consequently, a quiet uproar has risen like I've never seen at The Church Formerly Known as Olivet Baptist. I have now heard first, second, and third hand arguments for both sides.

On one side we have the board members, visionaries, and contemporary thinkers (generally speaking).
They believed this change would encourage more balance of numbers between the two services, as 1st service was quite a bit smaller in head count. Also, this cuts down on man-hours spent preparing for music each week. They believe in worshiping God with all kinds of instruments.

On the other side we have the older folk (generally speaking). They miss the hymns and don't like drums and electric guitars. Their uproar is evidenced by a drastic reduction in the number of 1st service attenders (who would rather have a service of their own than attend second service). There have even been some outright scowls at the band as they timidly make their way through the songs. One older lady said, "What are the younger generations going to do without the hymns? I have a hard time memorizing scripture, but the hymns come to mind easily."

Then we have those caught in the middle, the musicians. The traditional service musicians have left the church. The contemporary musicians are being torn limb from limb betwixt the call of duty and the scowls of resentment. The worship leader has lost almost every inch of passion left in her (and is being ridiculed for it). The musicians faithfully, but laboriously strum, plunk, and tap their way through the songs. One musician was so broken up that he gave his guitar away to charity. In addition, some don't understand why hymns are so important that people would scowl and leave the service, or church altogether.

One could hardly call this "worship", could one?

What is one to do?

Well, as the self-proclaimed Back Pew Driver, and friend to young and old, I have thoughts on this, but first, I'd like to hear yours!
